Frequently Asked Questions

   A-   Our product can be nailed, glued or floated.  It is recommended that it be glued as well as nailed in older homes.  The same nailing gun and shoes can be used for bamboo flooring that are used for oak, maple or any other typical hardwood flooring.   It takes the same amount of time to install as it does for any other type of hardwood.  The edges are tongue and grooved.  It is recommended that a nail be driven every nine inches.  Be aware that bamboo is considerably harder than oak, which means that it will dull saw blades more quickly. 

   2.   Q-  Is this a veneer or an engineered flooring?

         A-   No, our flooring is solid bamboo.  It can be mitered, jointed and routed. 

   3.   Q-  Is it finished or unfinished?

    A-   It is sold in both forms. 

There are two choices of finish: polyurethane or aluminum oxide.  The polyurethane finish lasts about 5 years before a touch-up is necessary; there is a 5 year warranty and is excellent for high-traffic areas.  The advantages of an aluminum oxide finish are that it is resistant to ultraviolet fading, and it is highly scratch-resistant.  The disadvantages of the aluminum oxide finish are that once damaged, it is very difficult to repair.   It is prone to cracking and has a low resistance to water.

   4.      Q-  Can it be stained?

         A-   No, bamboo resists attempts to stain it. 

   5.      Q-  Is the color consistent?

   A-   Yes, it is as color consistent as any other natural product. 

   6.      Q-  Is there is discount when a large quantity is purchased?

         A-   A discount of about 3% is given to customers who order 6,000 square feet or more.  For customers who order 12,000 square feet or more, a separate discount will be discussed.

    7.      Q-  Is there a drop-ship program in place?

    A-   Yes, it can be billed to you and shipped anywhere.

    8.      Q-  What forms of payment are accepted?

    A-   Approved net 30 days billed through through your coop (if a vendor agreement is in place), check, or major credit card (Visa or Mastercard).

    9.      Q-  Is there a charge for samples?

    A-   No, the samples are free.

    10.  Q-  Is there a warranty?

          A-   Yes, there is a lifetime warranty on the bamboo, a 5 year warranty on the polyurethane finish, and a 20 year warranty on the aluminum oxide finish.

    11.  Q-  What is included in the shipped packages?

    A-   The package includes a warranty maintenance letter and installation guide.

    12.  Q-  Why should I choose Nu Wood bamboo flooring over the competition?

    A-  Nu Wood is of higher-quality and is much less expensive.
